You've Been Given a Gift...Use It!

It’s easy to think of faith as something quiet.
Something internal.
Something personal.
Something that exists between you and God and doesn’t necessarily require much movement beyond that.
But that’s not really how it works.
Faith isn’t just about believing.
It’s about participating.
At some point, after the healing starts to take hold and things begin to settle, there’s a shift that happens. You start to realize that you’re not just here to survive what you’ve been through. You’re here to do something with it.
And that’s where things can get uncomfortable.
Because now the question isn’t:
“Why did this happen to me?”
Now it’s:
“What am I going to do with what I’ve been given?”
For a lot of us, that’s where we stall out.
We’re willing to heal.
We’re willing to grow.
But using what we’ve learned? That feels like a different level of responsibility.
It requires trust.
Not just in God—but in the fact that He didn’t bring you through everything you’ve been through just to leave you sitting there wondering what comes next.
You were given something.
Maybe it’s insight.
Maybe it’s resilience.
Maybe it’s the ability to see things differently now.
Whatever it is, it wasn’t given to you just for you.
And this is where faith and action meet.
Because having faith in God also means trusting that He has equipped you—right now, as you are—to take the next step. Not when everything is perfect. Not when you feel completely ready.
Now.
That doesn’t mean you have to do something big or dramatic.
It might be:
telling your story
helping someone else who’s walking a similar road
finally using a gift you’ve been sitting on
or stepping into something you’ve been avoiding
The size of the step doesn’t matter.
The willingness does.
Because unused gifts don’t just sit quietly. Over time, they turn into frustration. Into restlessness. Into that feeling that you’re meant to be doing something more—but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is.
That feeling isn’t random.
It’s a signal.
God doesn’t just heal you so you can sit comfortably.
He heals you so you can move forward—with clarity, with purpose, and with something to offer.
So, this week, instead of asking what’s missing, try asking:
What have I already been given?
And what would it look like to actually use it?
If you’re looking for stories from people who have done exactly that—taken what they’ve been through and turned it into something meaningful—you’ll find them in our Shop.
And if you’re sitting on a story like that yourself, maybe it’s time to move it forward.

If you're ready to take the next step, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.
At Higher Ground Books & Media, we help authors take what they’ve been given and move it forward—without overcomplicating the process.
