What It Looks Like to Use Your Gifts

Last week, we talked about being given something—and what it means to take the next step instead of letting it sit.

This week, I want to show you what that actually looks like.

Not in theory.

In practice.

One of the authors we’ve worked with at Higher Ground Books & Media, Terra Kern, is a clear example of someone who has taken what she’s been given and done something with it.

She didn’t just write one book and stop.

She kept going.

Using your gifts doesn’t always look dramatic.

Most of the time, it looks like showing up again.

Writing the next book.

Continuing when no one is watching.

Trusting that what you’re doing matters.

It’s not about perfection.

It’s about consistency.

And it hasn’t stopped at writing.

Terra has taken what she’s created and actually used it—leading Bible studies and small groups at her church with her own books. She’s also one of our contributing authors, continuing to show up and share what she’s been given.

That’s what using your gifts looks like in real life.

Not just creating something and putting it out there but allowing it to serve a purpose beyond you.

A lot of people are still waiting.

Waiting to feel ready.

Waiting for the right time.

Waiting for confirmation.

But what if the confirmation is the fact that it hasn’t left you alone?

You were given something.

Maybe it’s insight.

Maybe it’s resilience.

Maybe it’s the ability to see things differently now.

Whatever it is, it wasn’t given to you just for you.

And this is where faith and action meet.

Because having faith in God also means trusting that He has equipped you—right now, as you are—to take the next step. Not when everything is perfect. Not when you feel completely ready.

Now.

If you’re looking for stories from people who have done exactly that—taken what they’ve been through and turned it into something meaningful—you’ll find them in our Shop.

And if you’re ready to take the next step, you don’t have to figure it out on your own.

At Higher Ground Books & Media, we help authors take what they’ve been given and move it forward—without overcomplicating the process.
