Faith-Tested Voices Rooted in Real Healing
At Higher Ground Books & Media, we believe faith is not formed in theory — it is forged in lived experience. In the places where life wounds us, where trust is broken, and where healing becomes not just spiritual language, but a real and necessary need.
That belief led us to create our Contributing Author initiative.
Our Contributing Authors are writers who speak from places they’ve actually lived — places shaped by trauma, loss, endurance, restoration, and faith that has been tested and rebuilt.
Their reflections align with the three core pillars that guide HGBM:
Healing from Trauma
Using Your Gifts
Growing Your Faith
These contributions are not meant to provide formulas or surface-level encouragement. They are meant to tell the truth about what faith looks like when it intersects with pain — and what healing can look like when God meets us there.
A Testimony of Healing and the Garment of Praise
This week’s featured reflection is a personal testimony from Terra Kern.
In her post, Terra shares openly about childhood trauma, emotional wounds carried into adulthood, and the weight she unknowingly bore for years — what Scripture describes as a spirit of heaviness. Through her story, she reflects on a moment of surrender, when she realized she could no longer carry life on her own and cried out to God for help.
What follows is not a polished explanation of faith, but a lived encounter with God as healer — an experience of relief, restoration, and the exchange of heaviness for peace, described in deeply personal and relatable terms.
In the days ahead, we’ll be sharing personal reflections from our Contributing Authors—stories shaped by real pain, real faith, and real encounters with God. These testimonies are offered not as formulas, but as encouragement for anyone who may be quietly carrying more than they realize.
