In a word...

A while back, I asked the authors who write for HGBM to share with me one word that describes their book or books. I got some interesting responses, and I will be sharing these here in the coming weeks and months. But first, I wanted to share my word with you. I thought about it for a long time and rather than assign a word to my books (which I will share at a later time), I decided to assign one to myself as a person, as a writer, and a publisher. My word, strangely, is "word." It fits for so many reasons. Here are a few:

The word, "word" has so much meaning for me. First and foremost, God's word is extremely important in my life. I rely on it to get me through every situation and to guide me as I try to navigate this crazy world. His word is everything I need to survive. Through it, He shows me where I need to be, what I need to do, and what I need to say, think, and feel. His word leads me out of darkness when I'm confused or scared. His word shows me a new way of looking at things when I get stuck in my own head. Without God's word, I would have no compass. I would have no direction, and no reason to keep pressing forward in hopes of the fulfillment of His promises.

God's word led me to use my own words to communicate the pain of my experiences and the joy of accepting His healing. And those words led me to others who wanted to share their words with the world as well. And together, we built Higher Ground Books & Media on the word of God, the words of our authors, and the words that I was blessed to be able to write and share. Some may not understand my words or even want to read them or hear them, but as long as God keeps telling me to speak, write, and share, I'll keep speaking, writing, and sharing the words He gives me.

Stay tuned for feature posts where I'll share some of the cool words our authors have given us and a little bit about the books they have published with HGBM.

I thought of how Martin Luther used the word "Word" in his memorable hymn, "A Mighty Fortress". A beautiful blog indeed. Jerry Crossley
