As we move into Fall, we are only a couple of months away from our big holiday celebrations. Many non-profit organizations will be sending out their requests for donations now and we'll be able to make decisions about how we can help others who are struggling. I recently read a post on Facebook that talked about how when we donate to food pantries, we tend to give the usual canned vegetables or soup, hamburger helper, macaroni and cheese and the like. We sometimes forget about all of the things that we use to make our meals. Things like sugar, flour, salt, pepper, and oil. Without these things, our food just doesn't taste quite as good as it should.
The post gave some suggestions for things we might want to consider when making our food donations. I decided to put these suggestions into a quick-reference meme to share here. Of course, you should always check your local food pantry's donation guidelines before taking things in, but here are a few things to consider.
As a publisher and an author, I read lots of things and when I see something that resonates with me like this post did, I feel the need to share it with others. That's the great thing about writing. We can communicate so much to each other through what we write on social media. It's not always about promoting ourselves or giving updates on our latest vacation or adventure. Sometimes, it's about sharing how we can be better humans to one another. It's about how we can be more thoughtful when we set out to help each other. And that's just plain awesome!
Thank you for stopping in and reading our blog today! We always appreciate your taking the time to read it and we appreciate your feedback as well. Have a blessed week and enjoy this last week of September.
