Growing up in Toronto Canada, my childhood home was located near the old Maple Leaf Gardens where the Toronto Maple Leaf hockey team had their games. Several of my High School teachers were professional hockey players and every Saturday evening I would watch the games on television.   I was a true fan. In my childhood I often heard family stories about Alex Levinsky and his many accomplishments. He was the first Jewish American-born N.H.L hockey player. According to my family lore, Alex was a part of my family tree.  I always wanted to become a professional hockey player and ended up becoming a rabbi. Alex always wanted to become a rabbi and ended up playing professional hockey. He wore his Judaism proudly and played on two Stanley Cup winning teams.  He was an athlete par excellence.  This story is a tribute to his amazing life.
