Why We Publish

Every book starts with a reason.

Sometimes it's a story that won't leave an author's mind. Sometimes it's an experience they need to share. Sometimes it's a message they believe someone needs to hear.

And sometimes, it's simply a story that needs to be told.

That's why we publish.

At Higher Ground Books & Media, we believe books are about more than filling a bookshelf. They're about connecting people—with ideas, with stories, with faith, and sometimes with parts of themselves they didn't even realize needed to be seen.

For more than a decade, we've had the privilege of working with authors who have something to say.

Our catalog now includes more than 235 titles, representing dozens of authors and an incredible variety of stories and perspectives. We've published memoirs, inspirational books, ministry resources, children's books, fiction, mysteries, and books about faith, healing, purpose, relationships, and life.

No two books are exactly alike.

And that's part of what makes publishing so rewarding.

Our three guiding themes—Healing from Trauma. Using Your Gifts. Growing Your Faith.—reflect many of the reasons people write in the first place. Authors write because they've experienced something, learned something, overcome something, believed something, or simply have a story they can't stop telling.

Our job is to help them bring that story to readers.

We're proud to be an independent publisher, and we're proud of the authors who have trusted us with their words.

But we're also proud of the readers.

Because a book isn't finished when it's published.

It's finished when someone picks it up.

When someone finds encouragement in its pages.

When a child discovers a new story.

When a reader sees something differently.

When someone realizes they're not alone.

That's why we publish.

Because we love to tell the story.
