More Than Numbers: The Stories Behind Higher Ground

Over the past few days, we've been taking a look at some of the numbers behind Higher Ground Books & Media.

13+ years of publishing.

62 active authors.

235+ titles.

63 audiobooks.

Those numbers are worth celebrating.

But numbers don't tell the whole story.

Behind every title is a person.

Someone who sat down and decided they had something worth saying.

Someone who spent hours writing, rewriting, editing, questioning, praying, remembering, researching, and sometimes simply trying to find the courage to put their words on a page.

That's the part of publishing I never want to lose sight of.

Every Book Starts with a Story

Some of our authors have written about faith.

Some have written about difficult experiences and the process of healing.

Some have shared their personal journeys.

Some have written fiction.

Some have created resources to help others grow.

Some have written for children.

And some have simply had a story that wouldn't leave them alone until they finally put it into words.

The books may look completely different from one another, but they have something important in common:

Someone believed the story was worth telling.

More Than a Catalog

When I look at the HGBM catalog, I don't just see more than 235 books.

I see years of people's lives represented in those pages.

I see authors who took a chance.

I see ideas that became manuscripts.

I see manuscripts that became books.

And I see stories that might never have reached readers if someone hadn't been willing to help bring them into the world.

That's what Higher Ground Books & Media has always been about.

We love to tell the story.

And We're Still Growing

After more than a decade, it's tempting to look backward and focus on what has already been accomplished.

And yes—we should celebrate it.

But I'm even more interested in what's next.

There are still stories waiting to be written.

There are still authors looking for a place to begin.

There are still readers looking for the book they didn't know they needed.

And there are still stories that can encourage someone, challenge someone, make someone laugh, strengthen someone's faith, or remind someone that they aren't alone.

That's why we're still here.

And that's why we're still publishing.
