It's Not Just the Healing

It often seems like the end goal in our journey is finally reaching a place where we feel healed. But really, that’s just the beginning. We can become so focused on solving the problem that once it feels resolved, we aren’t quite sure what comes next. The reality is that when the problem is no longer running our lives, we are free to embark on something brand new. This is where we can take a step forward and begin doing the things we once thought were out of reach. The question isn’t whether we’ve healed. The question is whether we’re willing to move forward.
At this crossroads, we’re often presented with opportunities to do the very thing God has been nudging us toward all along. Throughout our struggles, we learn the skills we will need to effectively use what He has given us. But sometimes we miss the cues. Or, still a little shell-shocked by past failures or trauma, we hesitate. We resist the urge to try something new because we’re working so hard to protect the peace we fought to find. In short, we stay nestled in the comfort of the status quo.
It’s here that we have to gently challenge ourselves to look beyond the healing and toward what our lives could be — and what they might become if we allow ourselves to be led. God has equipped us. And now we’re invited to use what we’ve learned. What can you pick up today that might one day stand as a testament to your journey? What small step could move you toward the legacy you’re building? You can still trust God to guide you — He isn’t just here for the problems. He’s here for the purpose. He’s cheering you on.
If you’re feeling like you’ve just climbed a mountain, don’t rush past that accomplishment — but don’t build a permanent home there either. Enjoy the view. Catch your breath. And then begin looking for the next mountain.
Sometimes that next step is telling the story of how you made it through the last one. If you’re ready to share your journey, Higher Ground Books & Media is here to help. Whether you’ve been writing for years or you’re just beginning to consider it, we offer coaching, editing, ghostwriting, and publishing assistance. As a hybrid-first publisher, we provide a pathway for getting your story into the hands of the readers who need it most.
