AI Is a Tool. It Isn't the Author.

Let's talk about AI.

At Higher Ground Books & Media, we do use AI. But before you panic, please read further...

I use it for brainstorming. I use it to help organize information, handle administrative tasks, schedule things, and make some of the work behind the scenes more efficient.

And I think AI can be an incredibly useful tool.

But I also believe there is a line we shouldn't cross.

AI should assist human creativity—not replace it.

When someone writes a book, I want to hear that person's voice.

Their experiences.

Their perspective.

Their imagination.

Their story.

AI can help an author brainstorm an idea. It can help with research. It can help find a better way to organize thoughts or catch a grammatical error.

But I don't believe AI should write the book in the author's place.

AI may help you say what you want to say. It shouldn't say it for you.

The same principle applies to artwork.

Higher Ground Books & Media has worked closely with some incredibly talented artists and illustrators. We have tremendous respect for the time, skill, creativity, and experience they bring to their craft.

Creating artwork is more than producing a picture.

It is a creative skill that someone has spent years developing.

That's why HGBM does not accept AI-generated artwork as the final artwork for our book covers.

We aren't anti-technology.

We're not afraid of AI.

We're pro-human creativity.

Technology can help us work smarter.

It can help us organize.

It can help us research.

It can help us brainstorm.

But it shouldn't replace the human being who has something meaningful to say.

And perhaps that's one of the most important conversations we can have as we enter an age where technology can create almost anything:

What should we choose to create ourselves?

That question is especially timely for us because Scripture in the Age of AI will be released this week.

Technology is changing rapidly.

But God's Word doesn't change.

And neither does the value of a human being with something meaningful to say.

AI can be a tool.

It cannot be the author.
